Course Descriptions

New and novice shooters will develop a baseline skill set to build upon.  Experienced shooters who want a refresher class on core handgun skills will also find this class helpful.  You will learn skills critical to every phase of handgun employment taught in every other class we teach.

Designed for LEO & military “duty” applications, this open-enrollment course provides a stair-stepped program that enables you to make combat effective shots on demand.

We follow the curriculum, methods, techniques and standards developed by Paul Howe at CSAT, only utilizing instructors that have successfully passed the CSAT Tac Pistol Instructor course and are certified to teach this period of instruction by Mr. Howe.

The pace quickens in Pistol Applications 2 as we teach you to effective employ your pistol within 50m.  We start by running you through the CSAT shooting standards, then build upon the skills taught in Pistol Applications 1 by layering on live-fire problem solving, threat discrimination, hostage-taker shots, movement, use of cover, 2-man corner clears, movement around/use of vehicles as cover, and more.

The pace quickens in Carbine Applications 1 as we teach you to effective employ your carbine within 50m.  Starting with techniques to get your gun up and running, and overcome stoppages/malfunctions, we develop your skills to quickly engage single and multiple targets within 50m from a variety of supported and unsupported positions.

Carbine Applications 2 expands on Carbine Applications 1.  Proper use of cover, three methods to break cover from standing and keeling positions, threat discrimination drills, full spectrum assessments during pre-contact, contact and post-contact engagements, transitions to pistol and more.

In Intermediate Range Carbine, you’ll learn how to extend the reach of your carbine from 50m to 300m while shooting from a variety of positions.

We cover equipment considerations, pros/cons of different zero distances, compensating for environmental factors, and practical application of all critical elements of the shot process to make a deliberate shot at these middle ranges.  This course will provide you with the tools necessary to succeed in our Designated Marksman course.

DM1 is a 2-day course that introduces you to the essential skills needed to engage targets beyond typical shooting distances.  All skills learned in Intermediate Range Carbine are refined and expanded upon.  Using “rack-grade” duty rifles, graduates of this course are trained to engage 40″x19″ targets at known distances up to 600 meters.

DM2 is a 2-day course that continues your development after you complete DM1.  Using “rack-grade” duty rifles, graduates of this course are trained to engage 40″x19″ targets at UNKNOWN distances up to 600 meters.  This class forces the student to apply all prior teachings in an uncertain environment that more closely resembles reality.
